Quick Note from Mrs. Waters… May 11, 2012

HOT LUNCH: Remember, THERE IS NO HOT LUNCH PROVIDED IN THE MONTH OF JUNE.

Teacher Appreciation Week: The PTSF did such an amazing job of making each and every day special for our teachers! The teachers have enjoyed breakfast, lunch and snacks. They have been treated to gift cards and smoothies. Not to mention all of the wonderful cards and gifts that you, the parents, have provided, in addition to what the PTSF has done. Thank you for all of your wonderful participation in making this a memorable week for the teachers, and for me as well!

4th Quarter Interims Issued:  Today, you will receive the final Interim for your child. This indicates that there are only a few weeks of school remaining in this school year. Please help your child stay focused and engaged in school work for the final weeks of school.

Dollar Dress Down Day:  Monday, May 14 will be our final Dollar Dress Down Day for the year. Please remember to stay within the dress code, especially with shorts.

Talent Show: On Wednesday, May 16, CCS will host the Annual Talent Show. Talent Show Audition Evaluations have been sent home in the Friday Folders. Please note the remarks. It will be marked on the form if your child needs to re-audition.  If your child is participating, please make plans to attend. The event will take place here, in the gym, at 1:30 p.m. There are many participants, and each number promises to be wonderful.

Standardized Testing: The week of May 21 through 25, CCS students from K5 through 6th grade will be taking the Terra Nova Standardized testing. We will send further instructions next week, as to how to help your child excel during the testing.

Memorial Day: On Monday, May 28 there will be no classes in observance of Memorial Day.

PTSF Picnic: Our annual CCS School Picnic will take place at Burke Lake on Saturday, June 2. More information will be published, but mark your calendar now to make plans to attend this great event.

K3, 4 and 5 Fun Day: On Thursday, June 7, the younger grades will be enjoying a “Fun Day”. This is a day where students break from academics and play structured games outside. They also get a visit from the Firefighters from our local station, who teach them about the Fire Engine, and basic fire safety. It is a special day for the students and each of the teachers will be sending home some special instructions for different special events

Graduation: Don’t forget to mark your calendar for the K5 Graduation- June 9 at 10:00 a.m. and the 6th Grade Graduation- June 9 at 2:00 p.m.

Field Day: The 1st through 6th graders will enjoy Field Day on Monday, June 11. See the enclosed flyer for the order form for the t-shirt. Also notice the team your child has been placed in, as this will determine the needed t-shirt color. Field Day is always one of the highlights of the year. Coach Lawhorne and Tony have planned some great games that will make the day even more memorable. Please turn your t-shirt order form in to the front desk by May 18.

Yearbook Order Forms: The 2011-2012 yearbook order form is included in today’s folder. These orders must be turned in by May 25. The Yearbook will be issued on Tuesday, June 12, and we will spend a portion of the day signing them.
